Questions?

The UK education system is highly structured and follows the National Curriculum, which outlines the subjects taught and the expected standards at each key stage. Lessons are planned around clear objectives, and students are regularly assessed to track progress in areas such as literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking.

SEN stands for Special Educational Needs. It refers to students who require additional support due to learning difficulties, disabilities, or emotional and behavioural needs. UK schools often have Special Educational Needs Coordinators who work closely with teachers to provide tailored support and inclusive teaching strategies.

If you hold full citizenship from either Australia, Canada, or New Zealand, and are aged between 18-35, you’re eligible for the Youth Mobility Visa. Full details can be found here.

If you fall outside of the above criteria, you’ll need to be directly sponsored by a school in the UK. If you’re a high school Maths or Science teacher, you’re eligible for the fast track visa and our team is at hand to help you with this.  Click here to find out more.

The average Youth Mobility Visa is processed within six weeks of the initial application date, although a few different factors can influence the timeline. Keisha will guide you through the process when the time comes to apply.

If you’re planning to relocate to the UK for a long-term/full-time teaching position, you’re not restricted as to where you can live and work. Our placement team services schools across the United Kingdom, which gives us access to a large range of teaching vacancies across all levels of education. If you already have a location in mind, simply let us know in your welcome call and our team will promote you for education jobs in that specific area.

For teachers looking for casual/substitute teaching opportunities, we recommend living in London to maximise the amount of work offered to you. Your dedicated consultant can offer advice about the best areas to live.

QTS, or Qualified Teacher Status, is an accreditation given to qualified teachers in the UK; many schools see it as the gold standard for teaching. Check with your consultant whether you will be automatically eligible for QTS upon arrival in the UK. You’ll need to provide evidence of your teaching certification and university degree certificates. Our team will support you with obtaining QTS before you start teaching in the UK.

Here at Bounce Teachers, we want to give our Overseas Teachers the flexibility in deciding the type of work they receive, along with the longevity of the assignment. When you register with us, you’ll be asked if you are looking for a long-term/full-time teaching job, or if you’d prefer to start with casual substitute teaching roles. Our full-time positions generally require a 1-year commitment, however, if for any reason you aren’t happy with the school that you are placed in, we’ll support you with finding another school position that’s a better match.

You don’t need to pay us anything. We are a free, no-strings-attached service for our teachers, and we want to make your move overseas as smooth and stress-free as possible.

A good rule of thumb is to arrive at least two to three weeks before your teaching role begins. For a September start, this is usually mid-August; for a January start, typically mid to late December. Many of our teachers choose to arrive in June or July to enjoy some European travel before settling down in the UK. It’s entirely up to you.

Yes. We offer flexible start dates, and as long as we have notice, there’s always a solution. Speak with Keisha about your specific circumstances so you can create a tailored timeline just for you.

No. In most cases, you will be responsible for covering your own visa and relocation costs.

You can apply for your Youth Mobility Visa up to six months before your arrival. For an August arrival, we recommend starting your application between March and May. Other visa routes may vary. Click here for our Visa Application Guide.

Class sizes in the UK typically average around 30 students per class, although this can vary depending on the school, location, and year group. Some classes may be smaller, particularly in independent or specialist schools.
